General Case of Conjugation of Verbs in -ir

The typical example of third group verbs is "vivir". In order not to break the rule, we will also start from this verb.

In the table below, we separate the stem from the ending. The stem is the invariable part of the verb. It is common to all tenses. The ending, on the other hand, changes depending on the tense and mood.

However, note that the endings of verbs in -ir are almost identical to those in -er. We mark with an asterisk the endings that change in order to better memorize them.
